Franco Weibel completed his training as an ETH agricultural engineer specialising in plant cultivation. His diploma thesis, doctoral thesis, post-doctorate and professional activities in leading positions were always in the areas of fruit growing, viticulture, specialised crops and soil. After 22 years at the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture in Frick, he worked for a further 8.5 years (until retirement) as a fruit-growing consultant at the Ebenrain Centre for Agriculture, Nature and Nutrition in Sissach/BL.
«I have always been fascinated by specialised crops, especially sustainable fruit and wine growing, but also vegetable and ornamental plant cultivation - and even turf management. Not least because healthy soil is a prerequisite for them to thrive.»
